This is a best practice for a number of reasons:</p> <ul> <li>Ensures <a href="https://www.purchase.edu/library/about/accessibility/" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.purchase.edu/library/about/accessibility/">accessibility</a>: Many databases offer text-to-speech options and provide stable, searchable, and accessible PDFs. Databases also upgrade & improve content regularly. </li> <li>Builds research skills by familiarizing students with various database interfaces. </li> <li>Ensures compliance with <a href="https://purchase.libguides.com/copyright/policy" data-cke-saved-href="https://purchase.libguides.com/copyright/policy">copyright</a>. </li> <li>Reduces amount of time faculty spend scanning course materials. </li> <li>Increases database usage/traffic, which helps the Library justify database renewal costs. </li> <li>Encourages students to take advantage of value-added features such as citation generators, exporting to citation managers, and alternative file formats (PDF, HTML, ePub, etc). </li> </ul> <p> To make resources from the Library’s subscription databases and online journals available to students who may be remotely accessing Brightspace (or other platforms) from <a href="https://purchase.libanswers.com/faq/36686" data-cke-saved-href="https://purchase.libanswers.com/faq/36686">off-campus</a>, you must include the <strong>EZProxy prefix code</strong> in the item’s URL.</p> <p> The <strong>EZProxy prefix code</strong> is: <strong>http://ezproxy.purchase.edu/login?url=</strong></p> <p> This prefix code must be placed <strong><em>before</em></strong> the rest of the URL in order to make the article available from off-campus.   • Telecommuting Program Update

    Telecommuting will be allowed to continue until June 30, 2025, (the end of the current pilot agreement) as deemed appropriate by the supervisor in consultation with the area Vice President. Together they will work to establish a plan to ensure health and safety of employees while meeting the colleges’ and departments work goals and operational needs. Employee concerns can be addressed with the supervisor, sector VP, or Human Resources as appropriate and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

    If your telecommuting application needs to be amended due to a change in work duties you will need to submit a new one. The application is located on the HR Employment Forms website.

    Anyone seeking a reasonable accommodation which is in compliance with the College’s Reasonable Accommodation Policy must contact the Reasonable Accommodation Officer.

  • Family Recipe Submission Form

    As a part of Family Appreciation Week 2020, we would love to hear from current parents and family members on what your student’s favorite family dish is. Each day, we will highlight a new recipe and post on the Facebook page for other families to be able to cook your dish. All submissions will be listed in our inaugural Purchase College Family Cookbook that will be available via PDF download. Feel free to enter as many recipes as you would like.
