Welcome Back from CTS
Welcome Back to the Spring 2026 semester from CTS! We hope everyone had a great break. CTS has been busy with technology updates over winter break.
Technology Updates
CTS verifies that all machines in labs and classrooms have:
- Computers have Internet connectivity and on Purchase.edu domain to allow user login.
- All Operating systems and campus-wide software updates have been installed.
- All requested software has been installed and no errors appear when launched.
- Printers appear and can print.
- Mouse, keyboard, power, and network cables present and working properly
CTS strongly recommends that all faculty who are teaching in these rooms visit their assigned rooms to verify everything is functional and working to their satisfaction.
If you have any questions or issues, please submit a CTS work request detailing the problem as much as possible so CTS can troubleshoot.
Other Technology Upgrades Fulfilled:
- Upgraded several hundred faculty and academic staff computers to Windows 11.
- Procured and distributed 20 new long term laptops to Pell Grant students.
Employee Security Training:
SUNY and New York State require all employees as well as other users with Purchase credentials including faculty emeritus, affiliates, etc. to undergo annual Security Awareness training. The security training is conducted twice each year (fall and spring), with new topics added as appropriate. Please use this link to start your training. If you have not completed your Fall 2025 Security Training, please complete it as soon as possible.
Optional Training:
CTS offers faculty/staff training for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and more! Please see our Introduction to Microsoft Teams Wiki page.Visit ourTips & Training page for more information and to sign up for an individual session with our technical staff.
Student Adobe Creative Cloud Discounts:
Purchase College is now participating in a SUNY program making an Adobe Creative Cloud All-Apps Pro Edition subscription available to students at the significantly discounted annual price of $75 per year. If you already have an Adobe subscription, you do not need to do anything until your existing license expires. If your existing license is set to auto-renew, you should disable auto-renew to take advantage of the improved discount. If your existing license is not associated with your “@purchase.edu” email please see the FAQ below for additional migration steps.
Make sure to read the FAQ prior to purchasing.
Purchases can be made at the SUNY Adobe Storefront.
Printing:
The Library has three large format, high capacity printers for use in the Reference area. Mobility Printers are available in the 1st floor lobby of Humanities, the basement of Social Sciences (by CTS), and the 3rd floor lobby of CMFT. These allow you to print directly from your personal device such as a phone, tablet, or laptop.
The SUNY mandated Office Print Management effort has now culminated in the purchase of new high-efficiency printers that have been deployed across campus. Replacing our obsolete printers with reliable new high-efficiency printers will also dramatically reduce the college’s print expenses going forward. More information can be found in our Pharos Printing FAQ.

If you need help or have questions, please drop into the CTS Technical Support Live Help Monday-Friday 9am-4:45pm.
CTS continues to be open for in-person service (Social Sciences room 0025 - basement level) and equipment pick-up and drop-off without an appointment Monday-Friday 9am-4:45pm.
Duo Two-Factor Authentication:
If you have a new phone or need any assistance with Duo, please contact the Technical Support Live Help for assistance, or drop by during our regular hours of operation.
Microsoft Software for Home Use - Word, Excel, and Office 365:
Our Microsoft contract provides students, faculty and staff with work-at-home copies of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). You can download your copy directly from Microsoft Office 365 for Schools & Students using your Purchase College email address.
Important Note on Microsoft:
Your Purchase College credentials are linked to Microsoft Online accounts. When you sign in to download Office 365 or access Microsoft training, you should now use your Purchase College credentials.
Long-Term Equipment Loans:
Pell Grant recipients with near-zero EFC can be provided with long-term equipment loans (LTEL) for as long as they remain actively enrolled at the college. LTELs are assumed to be a multi-year commitment to the student – through to graduation.
LTELs may include laptops, desktops, and other devices, as well as specialized software for their major where necessary. LTEL equipment does not need to be returned to the college between semesters (unlike the standard loan pool equipment available to all students). If you are eligible, please submit a CTS work request.
Equipment Loans:
All Purchase students can take advantage of the CTS Equipment Loan Pool. It is free! The CTS loan pool contains many DSLR and video cameras, audio recorders, laptops, tripods, lighting kits, and much more. You can browse the equipment in the loan pool and reserve your gear using the Work Order Tracking (WOT) system.
Students who have overdue equipment loans from last semester are asked to return the equipment as soon as possible.
Loans are available for pickup between 9am-4:45pm Monday-Friday.
We also ask that you refrain from requesting equipment loans for activities that are not directly related to your coursework.
Campus Network and Wi-Fi:
Wi-FI service is available in all campus buildings. See our Wi-Fi Heat Map for locations.
The CTS computer/device registration system simplifies getting your devices onto the campus network. You can register your computer as well as any other device you wish to use (e.g. smartphones, routers, and gaming consoles) through the Purchase Network Registration page. A more thorough explanation and instructions for connecting laptops and mobile devices to our wireless network, please refer to the instructions at Get Connected to the Purchase Network. Note that if you already registered a device, you do not have to do so again, and you must be on campus to register.
Visitors without a Purchase account can use the Purchase Guest Wi-Fi network to connect while in CTS wireless areas. Visitors can ask their Campus host for the wireless passphrase that can be found on the CTS Knowledge Base. The PurchaseGuest network is limited to basic Internet Web services.
Answers to many other Frequently Asked Questions can be found in the CTS Knowledge Base.
FAQs for Students:
We have answers to commonly asked questions on our Frequently Asked Questions Wiki page that provides information on topics such as connecting a computer or gaming console to the network, how to use Duo Two-Factor Authentication, what labs are available on campus, printing, and more.
