Upcoming MFA Transition from Duo to Microsoft Authenticator
Starting this week, CTS will begin a phased transition of our Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) service from Duo to Microsoft Authenticator. As part of this change, you will need to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone or smart device. Please refer to the CTS Wiki page for setup instructions and additional information.
Migration schedule:
- Student, Applicant, and affiliate accounts begin on Wednesday, May 13
- Faculty and Staff accounts begin on Tuesday, May 19
These changes, along with the new login portal, are part of Purchase’s ongoing efforts to strengthen identity security and provide a more consistent login experience across campus systems.
If you would like to set up and test your device ahead of your migration date, you can do so starting today through the Personal Information web application within MyHeliotrope. If you are able to successfully log in there, you will be ready for when your account is migrated.
During the transition period, some applications and online services may still prompt for Duo instead of Microsoft Authenticator. We are working to unify the login experience across all systems as quickly as possible.
For individuals who do not own or cannot use a smartphone, CTS will reach out in the coming weeks to coordinate alternative authentication methods.
If you are experiencing any difficulties, please join CTS Live Help for assistance.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this important transition.
