SUNY Print Initiative - Administrative Printing
We are pleased to announce that 41 new network printers have been deployed across campus. Our entire fleet includes the Toshiba 5516 (color), 400 (color) and HP (black & white). Please see our Administrative Printing page for printer locations, FAQ and complete information on setting up Pharos Secure Print. In this process, all Canon network printers were removed. The printers we own have been repurposed for student labs to make use of the remaining equipment and supplies. The printers we leased were shipped back to Canon as per their lease agreement.
Administrative Printing:
These printers are under warranty with maintenance and support services performed solely by Toshiba technicians. If there is an issue with the printer, please do not attempt maintenance, repair, removal or replacement of any parts! Notify CTS via Zoom Chat or submit a CTS work order to request service. Once a service call is submitted, a Toshiba technician will be dispatched within 24 to 48 hours depending on the issue and time reported. Department managers no longer need to order supplies or paper for regular administrative office printing. These new printers will detect and report when toner is needed, a new toner cartridge will automatically be sent to CTS, and CTS will install it for you. CTS will also provide standard office paper in 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17 sizes. Please submit a CTS work order to request paper. (Please note that CTS does not supply pre-printed letterhead, color paper, envelopes or high-quality bonded stock.)
Student Lab & Specialty Printers:
Requests for print supplies for student labs and specialty printers should be submitted for approval via CTS work order. Include item and amount being requested, cost, BI account and location where the item will be used.
Desktop (Local) Printers:
Many desktop printers are still being used across campus and will need to be removed. Please schedule a service call via CTS work order to have us pick up and dispose of your old printers and toner supplies. If it’s small enough, feel free to drop them off at the Helpdesk during business hours. In the coming months CTS will begin identifying unrelinquished printers and contact you to schedule their retirement. Ask Human Resources about a temporary or permanent ADA Accessibility exemption if you need one.
