Updates on our migration to Brightspace, official Perusall and Voicethread workshops offerings, and several SUNY-wide professional development opportunities.

Greetings from your SUNY FACT2 (Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology) Campus Representatives! We hope your semester is off to a great start!

In addition to a brief update about our future migration from Moodle to Brightspace, we’ve got some exciting upcoming SUNY events to share with you as well as workshop offerings from Perusall and VoiceThread.

Moodle to Brightspace Migration Updates

SUNY Online Teaching Spring 2022 Webinar Series (offered all Spring semester)

  • The SUNY Online Teaching unit has developed a portfolio of resources in a variety of modes to best fit institutional or individual needs. They offer a monthly webinar series that will provide an overview of the various resources developed to support faculty through this semester and beyond.
  • Please visit the SUNY Online Teaching Spring 2022 Webinar Series website for all session topics, dates, session descriptions, and registration information, as well as recordings of all previously offered sessions.

Perusall Spring 2022 Webinar Series

  • Learn more about Perusall, the free social annotation and collaboration tool that is already integrated with our Moodle system!
  • Register for one of Perusall’s official live webinar events this Spring. Choose from Perusall 101, Perusall 102, and/or Perusall Instruct the Instructor sessions being offered at a variety of dates/times throughout the semester.

VoiceThread Spring 2022 Workshops

Third Annual SUNY Online Summit 2022 (February 28 - March 4, 2022)

  • The SUNY Online Summit is an annual, SUNY-wide conference intended for SUNY Online Fellows in the experienced, expert, exemplar, and innovator/researcher roles.
  • The Summit is also open to any SUNY online practitioner with interest, or expertise in online program administration, online faculty development, online instructional design, online instruction, and online support. Friends of SUNY are also welcome.
  • The 2022 Summit will be a virtual event and is FREE to all.

The Future of Education: Reimagined (D2L webinar) (March 22, 2022, 2pm-3pm)

  • As educators, we know that the recent upheaval of a once well-established “normal” exposed gaps and injustices and provoked reflection in higher education. Individual and collective resiliencies were tested in ways—and at a pace—we could have never imagined. So, what does the future of education look like?
  • Register for this official D2L webinar and join the Chief Academic of D2L and other notable academic leaders to engage in this interactive discussion on trends and modalities, data and analytics, and strategies to help you better prepare for the future of education.

2022 SUNY Student Success Summit: Holistic Approaches to Student Success (May 4 - 6, 2022)

  • As SUNY is building capacity and best practices for supporting all students during these challenging times with evidence- and results-based campus and student leadership/models/methods, our communities of practice have again joined together in order to facilitate collaboration, networking, and sharing of ideas to improve offerings for all students across the state.
  • This Summit will bring together three SUNY communities of practice; Student Success, Applied Learning and Advising.
