    Students interested in MFA/MA option must submit separate applications to both the MFA Visual Arts program and the MA Art History MA program and must be admitted to both programs.

Entrepreneurship in the Arts, MA (Online)

    Application Requirements

    A complete online application will contain:

    • Completed graduate application forms
    • Nonrefundable application fee of $80 fee
    • Three letters of recommendation 
    • One written statement as follows:
      • What does Arts and Cultural Management mean to you? How will Purchase College and this program help you to pursue your aspirations in the arts and cultural sectors, whether they are independent and entrepreneurial, part of an existing organization in creative industries, or something else entirely? (750-1000 words)
    • Resume
    • Portfolio:
      • At least one writing sample (500-2000 words), which could include an academic research paper, industry report, policy brief, peer reviewed article, etc.
      • Up to two additional materials that support your application, such as additional writing samples, project documentation, websites/ platforms that showcase your work, photos/videos of creative or cultural projects, etc.

    • Official academic transcripts from all colleges you have attended (including community college, transfer coursework, study abroad, summer session, etc.):

Music, MM, Performance Certificate, Artist Diploma

  • Programs

    Music: MM

    For gifted musicians and composers destined for professional careers, we offer graduate studies in the Conservatory of Music leading to a Master of Music (MM) degree. The areas of study* are classical Instrumental Performance (brass, percussion, strings, harp, woodwinds, classical guitar, and piano), Classical Composition, Voice and Opera Studies, Jazz Studies, and Studio Composition.

    Music: Artist Diploma

    Our post-master’s programs are for graduate students in music who have completed the master’s degree requirements for Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, and Voice and Opera Studies.

    Music: Performer’s Certificate

    This is a postbaccalaureate program for students who have completed the undergraduate requirements for Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, and Voice and Opera Studies and are entering into careers as performers in solo, ensemble, or studio settings.

    Spring: Jazz Studies, Instrumental Performance, Voice and Opera Studies, and Classical Composition majors only. No Studio Composition. 


    Application Requirements

    Live Online Auditions: By Invitation Only

    • Spring applicants will be notified of results of their application by December 1. There are no live online auditions conducted for spring applicants.
    • Fall applicants will be notified of results of pre-screening auditions by February 5.

    Students selected for live online auditions will be notified by email and applicants will be able to register for a live audition date. 


Visual Arts, MFA
