Christy Oates: Digital Woodcrafting

As an artist and furniture maker with a background in manufacturing, Christy Oates is inspired by digital making combined with traditional woodworking techniques. Using computer-aided drafting programs and computer numerical control (CNC) machines like laser cutters and CNC routers to create her work, she is most interested in questioning where the boundaries of art and manufacturing meet.

Digital Woodcrafting is an exploration of laser-cut wood marquetry techniques for furniture and an investigation of patterns and repetitive forms in bent wood lighting.
