Meet the Director
Christopher Robbins, Director, is an artist, educator, and organizer who has lived and worked in New York, London, Tokyo, West Africa, the Fiji Islands, and former Yugoslavia.
Christopher Robbins, Associate Professor’s work experience spans several fields, including corporate (Union Bank of Switzerland, Reuters), non profit (Peace Corps, Museum for Africa Art), and academic fields (Rhode Island School of Design, University of the South Pacific, SUNY Purchase College).
In 2006, he co-founded the Ghana ThinkTank, a network of think tanks in countries including Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Mexico, El Salvador and Indonesia, who solve problems in the so-called “developed” world. Ghana ThinkTank was awarded a Knight Foundation Arts Challenge grant in 2018, a Creative Capital Grant in 2013, and spoke at the 2014 Creative Time Summit.
His work with Ghana ThinkTank has been featured in major international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennial of Architecture; the National Museum of Wales; Hong Kong/Shenzhen Biennale in Shenzhen, China; ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe, Germany; New Museum Festival of Ideas; the Foundation for Art and Technology, Liverpool, UK; Nikolaj Kunsthallen/Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center; and Eyebeam Center, New York. He has been awarded residencies or fellowships from Skowhegan, MacDowell Colony, Haystack, Penland and Anderson Ranch, among others.
