Katherine Bradford ’88
Contemporary artist Katherine Bradford is known for her luminous paintings which merge abstraction with representational motifs, as seen in her work Fear of Waves (2015). She currently divides her time between Brooklyn, NY (where she has a painting studio) and Brunswick, ME.
Bradford was Senior Critic on the faculty of the Yale School of Art (2016–17), MFA faculty at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. In 2009 she was a resident faculty at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2011, and was a recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 2012.Today, Bradford’s works are held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Smith College Museum in Maine, the Worcester Museum of Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, among others.
