Einstein Corner

Einstein Corner provides SUNY Purchase students with free tutoring assistance in such areas as mathematics, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and computer science. Tutors undergo a rigorous review process to ensure that they are qualified. Psychology tutors can be found in the Learning Center.

Unfortunately, we do not offer tutors for every class. If your class does not have a tutor, you can check Thinking Storm on Brightspace for general support, or seek assistance from the professor of the class during their office hours. Some classes also have learning assistants who may be able to provide support, as well. Some learning assistants book appointments through Starfish, while others may assist in class or via email. Check your syllabus or speak with your professor for more info.

Please note: Tutors are in high demand. To make sure the tutors are available to help as many students as possible, students may book an appointment with a tutor for a maximum of 1 hour per day, twice a week. If a tutor has limited availability, they may reduce the time of your scheduled appointment, or they may choose to meet with small groups of students at the same time instead of working one-on-one, if there is a high demand. Another option is to navigate to the “Current Students” tab on the SUNY Purchase homepage and select “Starfish” under Quick Links, then select Einstein Corner from there. While the Einstein Corner offers tutoring exclusively for math and science courses, free tutoring for other subjects is available at the Learning Center (which is located in the library),  and information on tutoring for Economics classes can be found on the Purchase Economics webpage.

Most Einstein Corner tutors are available for in person sessions in Einstein Corner (NS 3046), or virtual one-on-one sessions. Please note when booking your appointment in Starfish whether your appointment is in person or online. Some tutors may only be available in person, as the subject matter may be difficult to review online. Tutors may also need to move appointments online due to weather or other circumstances, so please check your email for any updates prior to your appointment.
