Lumen Circles Fellowship: Course Design for Student Success

Migrating to a new LMS provides faculty with an excellent opportunity to re-imagine course design and think ahead to the new Gen Ed requirements being implemented for SUNY in Fall 2023. To help with this process, SUNY CPD is offering, at no cost to faculty, a 4-week Course Design for Student Success program through Lumen Learning.

NEW! Course Design for Student Success

Learn how to effectively design or redesign a course with proven methods and techniques that support student belonging, learning and success. Build skills and knowledge around how evidence-based teaching practices help us to create an accessible learning environment for all students, how backward design aligns learning objectives and assessments, and how universal design principles build on student strengths, backgrounds, and ways of learning.

This fellowship is being offered in Spring 2023, and we invite you to join other SUNY faculty participating in this transition to Brightspace.

Throughout the 4-week fellowship, you will:

  • Review evidence-based instructional practices and how to create inclusive learning environments
  • Explore the development of measurable learning outcomes
  • Identify and align learning activities and assessments
  • Examine Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how to apply UDL practices to your course and syllabus design

The first fellowship starts on January 9, 2023; we’d like to encourage you to sign up now to ensure your spot is held.

Your participation is covered by SUNY OER Services and the SUNY Center for Professional Development. We ask you to commit to participating fully in fellowship activities, recognizing SUNY is investing in you with this opportunity to deepen your expertise as a student-focused educator.
