This program, with some changes, provides supplemental funds to the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. SUNY at Purchase College signed and returned to the Education Department a Certification and Agreement as required under the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. We acknowledge that by drawing down the CRRSAA funds, our institution agrees to be bound by the conditions set forth in the CRRSAA Supplemental Agreement including using 100 percent of these funds, $2,145,259.00 to provide emergency aid grants to students.

You may be eligible to receive funding if you:

  • Are a matriculated full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Have completed the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) within the range for Pell eligibility: 0 – 5,711

ED requires campuses to prioritize emergency grants to students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants.

SUNY requires campuses to prioritize Pell eligible recipients starting with students at the lowest Expected Family Contributions (EFCs).

Note: unlike the CARES student emergency grant program, students meeting the above requirements who are enrolled in exclusively on-line programs are eligible for HEERF II grants.

SUNY has created a template which campuses must use to calculate the HEERF II Student Aid emergency grants. This methodology was developed to provide emergency grants to students with exceptional need. Based on this awarding methodology, students will receive a Base Grant that correlates with their full-time (FT) or part-time (PT) status plus a standard supplemental amount based on the student’s primary EFC.

The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act authorizes colleges to award CRRSAA to students for their expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child-care expenses.

CRRSAA will not need to be repaid.

CRRSAA will not impact your financial aid.

SUNY at Purchase College will apply and disburse funds directly to students, bypassing Financial Aid processing completely. The entire CRRSAA award amount will be refunded, regardless of the account balance. Distinct Banner detail codes will be used to easily track these payments. Funds will be issued according to the student’s chosen method through our delivery partners, TouchNet and Intellecheck. Funds will either be deposited directly into the student’s checking/savings account or sent via paper check to the student’s address.

Option for “opt-in” and selection the dollar amount: Purchase College elected not to offer this option because of the predicted lack of student participation in this option, the delays caused by offering this option, the administrative burden of offering it, and eligibility conflicts that may arise due to the delay between notification and disbursement.
