Visitor Services
Summary
The Neuberger Museum of Art’s Visitor Services Department has the honor of serving as the front line of interaction with the public and the Purchase College campus community.
Background
The Visitor Services team serves as the eyes and ears of the Museum on the ground level and works behind the scenes to make sure that your voice as a visitor is heard. Not only do we strive to answer your questions and address your concerns, but we also carry your ideas and feedback directly to the curatorial team so we can all do our best to bring in new and exciting exhibitions.
You’ve probably already seen that we have the pleasure of working with Purchase College students, whom we employ at the front desk to greet visitors and attend to our gift shop. This provides a conduit for the public to interact with the next generation of artists, musicians and dancers, journalists and scientists, and all the other students undertaking their studies here at Purchase College. For some, this is their first job. We are proud to provide the foundational experience for their future careers and give them an introduction to the world of museums and the fine arts.
And now, a bit of trivia:
Have you ever wondered why we and other museums ask for your zip code at the front desk? This information helps us understand where our visitors are coming from and thereby how we want to direct our outreach efforts. In addition, many of the applications we submit for grants and funding require this visitor data: so just by telling us where you’re visiting from, you’re helping us make the next exhibition come to life – and for that, we thank you!
