Emma Jakubik ’23

Emma Jakubik ’23 is a stop-motion animator and video editor, currently working as a Video Archivist at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

A self-taught stop-motion animator,  Jakubik’s animations were selected for the Student World Impact Film Festival (2023) and the Hudson Valley Film Festival (2022, 2023).

Jakubik is a freelance video editor with experience editing for corporate clients such as Novartis, Lenovo, and The Green Impact Exchange.

At Purchase, Jakubik was an artist assistant to Assistant Professor of New Media Sara Magenheimer and multimedia artist Aurora Robson.

While working with Magenheimer, Jakubik worked on a project involving digital flowers, which, to her surprise, ended up in a music video by indie musician Grace Ives ’18. Magenheimer was helping Ives, a former student, create the video for her song “On the Ground.”

Jakubik also collaborated with filmmaker Amelia Wyeth Ponirakis ’23 on her junior film Caught the Bug (2022), which screened in the US and UK.
