Hannah Witthauer

Hannah Witthauer is a Literature Major. She will be presenting her senior project titled “Finding the Splintered Pieces of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” This project discusses how Young Adult literature is a transformative genre that bridges childhood to adulthood by showcasing characters who are experiencing puberty and sexual maturity through mystical and fantastical worlds, normalizing puberty and the act of growing up to their young readers. This project will be using Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and New York Times bestselling author A.G. Howard’s re-imagined series Splintered to demonstrate this connection through their modern day Victorian themes and nonsense languages.
