Dana Hirsch

Dana Hirsch is a Creative Writing major with a concentration in fiction and a minor in Journalism. They will be presenting their senior project titled “Saltpassage,” a 93,000 word post-apocalyptic queer adventure novel that mirrors the experience of a video game through the quest-style structure and use of second-person narration. Set in a world where all characters use non-binary pronouns five years after a meteor shatters earth and kills most living things, the narrator and fellow traveler Nail are on a quest through the Alps to look for traces of the narrator’s mother, chase the promise they’ve made to a lost love to collect the names of survivors on the continent, and push past their limits to discover a thriving settlement of people who change the trajectory of their journey.
