Layla McCants

Layla McCants is an Art History major with a minor in Global Black Studies. She will be presenting her senior project titled “Catch Me If You Can: An Examination of Looted Objects from the Mediterranean to West Africa.” McCants’ project chronicles the histories of several artifacts/artworks, how they ended up outside their countries of origin, and what policies and roadblocks are keeping these items from returning home. McCants also explores the debate surrounding restitution and how changing times and modern technology have aided those calling for justice for the objects.
