Payments & Billing

Payments and billing vary by the type of study abroad program you are doing. The sections below explain the payment structure for each type of program.

Purchase faculty-led programs (summer and winter terms)

Once you have signed and submitted your Agreement and Acceptance of Risk form, Purchase will bill you the full program cost as it appears on the program cost sheet. Payments must be made in full by the payment deadline (as outlined in your acceptance email). Any scholarship money received through the OGE office will appear as a credit on your bill. Students may be able to use financial aid towards a summer study abroad program.

Purchase exchange programs (semester-long or full-year)

Tuition and fees will be billed directly to the student by Purchase (at the same billing rate as if the student were attending Purchase). Students taking at least 12 credits are eligible to use their financial aid.  Room and board payments vary by program; in some cases students will pay the host institution, in other cases, they will pay a landlord or host family.

4-year SUNY campus programs

Students remain registered at Purchase College even when participating in a study abroad program through another 4-year SUNY campus, and tuition and fees are paid directly to Purchase. This also enables students to apply financial aid to the program tuition (when possible). All other program fees are paid to the administering institution. Room and board payments vary by program; in some cases students will pay the host institution, in other cases, they will pay a landlord or host family. The administering campus will inform the student of the payment structure.

SUNY community college programs

Students remain registered at Purchase College even when participating in a study abroad program through a SUNY community college which allows them to apply their financial aid, but tuition, fees, and other program costs are paid to the community college. Room and board payments vary by program; in some cases students will pay the host institution, in other cases, they will pay a landlord or host family. The administering community college will inform the student of the payment structure.

Non-SUNY programs

All payments including tuition, fees, room and board, and other program costs are made directly to the administering organization or campus.
