Inside the NEU: Agnes Denes

Summary

A special Inside the NEU–LIVE! event on Friday, May 15, 2020 featured a virtual Coffee Chat about the artist Agnes Denes, a primary figure among concept-based artists who emerged in the 1960s and 1970s.

Background

During this virtual Coffee Hour, Neuberger Museum Assistant Curator Avis Larson kicked-off the conversation with an introduction to Denes’ work, including The Human Argument IV-Light Matrix, 2012, which was included in both the Bending Light: Neon Art from 1965 exhibition at the Neuberger in 2018 as well as the Agnes Denes: Absolutes and Intermediate exhibition at The Shed in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards complex. The curator then introduced additional works by Denes in the Neuberger’s collection.
