Renovating our Old Bookstore for Psychology

As part of the upcoming renovations project to our Natural Science building, we’re finding a new home for our Psychology department.

Project Updates as of March 23, 2026

Our contractor Pierotti Corp has been hard at work getting the existing Bookstore space ready to be the new home of our Psychology department.  Walls are being framed and door and frames installed.  Completion is scheduled for this August 2026.

Project Overview

The old Bookstore was converted a couple of years ago to be the temporary home for the Visual Arts Darkroom, while the new darkroom was under construction.  We are now converting it into the new home for our Psychology department.  This will allow us to move the department (currently housed in the Natural Science building), to free up surge space in the Natural Science building.

Once we relocate the department, we’ll convert their old spaces into new for the programs and people being displaced from the basement level of the NS building.  This is necessary since the first phase of the NS building project will be a complete renovation of the basement level.

Once completed the new spaces will include both dry and wet labs, observation and testing rooms, a RF room, and fear testing room.
