Alum Peter Compo (’81) Makes Matching Gift to the Sciences
Purchase alum Peter Compo supports the School of Natural and Social Sciences and encourages other alumni to do the same. Through the end of this year, he will match every donation to the School of Natural and Social Sciences, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.
Peter Compo ’81 (Chemistry) still remembers the impact of his education. “Purchase was the right school at the right time: small classes, excellent opportunity for interaction with professors, and a cohort of outstanding students,” he said.
After Purchase, Peter completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the City College of New York, then built a distinguished career at DuPont. He held leadership roles in research, supply chain management, marketing, and business management, including serving as Director of DuPont Ventures and Corporate Integrated Business Planning. He is also a published composer and the author of the book The Emergent Approach to Strategy.
Now Peter is giving back to the place where it all began—and challenging his fellow alumni to join him. After making a $25,000 gift to Purchase this spring and while considering a second in the same amount, Peter found a way to make an even greater impact. Through the end of this year, he will match every donation to the School of Natural and Social Sciences, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.
“With this matching grant, I hope to encourage alumni to connect with Natural Science, either to support the school financially or in other ways. While Purchase may be better known for the arts, I know that many alumni from Natural Science went on to do great things. Let’s use our success to help propel current and future students to do the same.”
Help us meet Peter’s match—donate today to support the NSS Matching Gift.
Your donation, in any amount, will help ensure current students have access to the full breadth of opportunities that make a Purchase education so remarkable: research projects, conference travel, specialized lab supplies and equipment, guest speakers, and more.
