Creating a New Student Union Building

Expanding the functions of our existing Main Dining Hall to also serve as a student union building.

Project Updates as of January 1, 2026

Our design consultant PSF Projects is finalizing their Schematic Design drawings, which they will issue for review in early January.   Anticipated start of construction is Summer 2027.

Project Overview

The campus currently does not have a Student Union. The Main Dining Hall was built in 1972 and sits among the Freshman dorms, primarily serving our first-year students. The Campus would like to expand the current services to the first-year students and larger community by including student government, student life, and offices for Chartwell. Included programs such as lounge areas, games, student clubs, student life, student -run thrift shop, performance and presentation space, Maker-space, pod-cast room, kitchen and vending areas, etc., are being looked at while keeping the spaces as flexible as possible.

The lower level will still house our food services, which were recently update under our Dining Hall Servery Upgrades project, along with three new all-gender restrooms that are now open for use.
