Spring Faculty Pedagogy Reading Group - “Unraveling Faculty Burnout”
This semester, we will discuss “Unraveling Faculty Burnout” by Rebecca Pope-Ruark.
Across the semester, we will discuss the factors that contribute to burnout, its impact on pedagogy, and individual and institutional mitigation strategies. Participants will have access to the book via the reading group Brightspace page. We will meet 3 times during the semester (always on a Wednesday from 12:00-1:15) in a mix of in-person and remote meetings. All in-person meetings will take place in the TLTC Conference Room, on the lower level of the Library. Each meeting will accompany a section of the book. Prior to each meeting, I will send out notes summarizing that book section. Please do not let time to read the book be an obstacle to joining us for discussion! Participants can join every session or just some, whether you have read the book or not. Our top goal is to get us together to discuss, support each other, and develop actionable strategies for acknowledging and mitigating burnout in ways that support our teaching goals.
Meeting times for this semester are:
- Wed, March
- Wed, April

Please RSVP to jessica.carnevale@purchase.edu; I will then be in touch about how to access the e-book and the Brightspace page.
