Spring 2025 Faculty Pedagogy Programming
A Message from your Faculty Pedagogy Fellows...
Welcome back to campus! This mid-point of the year is a great time to reflect on our teaching practices. Consider taking a moment to write down responses to a few of the following questions:
- What is going well in teaching/mentoring this year?
- What are some adjustments I’d like to make this semester?
- Am I satisfied with the balance between my teaching and my other professional and personal goals?
- What aspect of teaching really challenged me this year?
- What excites me about teaching this semester?
Your faculty pedagogy fellows are here to support you! Here are some programs and services available for the spring:
- One on one meetings to discuss anything teaching related! This may include general teaching (perhaps using the questions above as a jumping off point), teaching challenges, course design, or anything else.
- A sounding board to process student evaluations from the Fall.
- Classroom visits (including observations or facilitated discussions with students on what supports their learning)
- New Faculty Series: All tenure track faculty hired in the last 3 years will continue to get program invites from us. If you are not on that list but would like to attend, please reach out. We’d love for you to join us in this supportive community!
- Book Club: “Unraveling Faculty Burnout” by Rebecca Pope-Ruark led by Jessica Carnevale. A separate email went out with details for joining this book club. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, February 5th from 12:00-1:15. (Reach out to jessica.carnevale@purchase.edu with questions.)
We are looking forward to seeing you at these and other programs rolled out this semester. Best of luck to us all as we step back into the classroom.
- Jessica Carnevale, Associate Professor of Psychology
- Jennifer Uleman, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Critical Thought; Chair, Law & Justice Studies
