Fall 2024 Faculty Pedagogy Reading Group
Please join Jennifer (“Jennie”) Uleman, 2024-2025 TLTC Faculty Pedagogy Fellow (and Chair of Law & Justice and Associate Professor of Philosophy and Critical Thought) for this fall’s Faculty Pedagogy Reading group!
This semester, we will work our way through Jesse Stommel’s Undoing the Grade: Why We Grade and How to Stop (Hybrid Pedagogy, 2023).
We will make plenty of time to talk together about how Stommel’s ideas, or other alternate grading/alternate assessment ideas (contract grading, labor-based grading), might work for our classes.
Participants will receive a copy of the book, courtesy of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC).
The reading group will meet in the TLTC conference room (Library, lower level) from 12pm - 1:15pm
- Wed, Sep 25
- Wed, Oct 9
- Wed, Nov 13
- Wed, Dec 11
Please bring your lunch!
Please RSVP to jennifer.uleman@purchase.edu; we will be in touch about how to pick up your book, the first reading, and will also add you to our Brightspace page so you can access anything it turns out to be useful to post there.
If you are interested, but cannot make this time, please also email Jennie (jennifer.uleman@purchase.edu). Please indicate whether you are willing to lead/convene another group of faculty at another time, whether in-person or on Teams. We’ll add you to the Brightspace page, too.
Thank you!
