backstory50: Transformational Giving

Today, I want to tell you about one of the Neuberger Museum of Art’s greatest supporters, the Straus family.

Lynn and Phil Straus against a pink background Philip Straus and Roy R. Neuberger were partners at Neuberger Berman; Philip joined the investment management firm in 1947 and stayed for more than 50 years. He and his wife, Lynn, were tremendous advocates for the arts, supporting many organizations across the country. The endowment that Philip and Lynn gave to the Neuberger in support of Museum education was transformational for our institution. Generations of students have benefitted from their largess, and I am so glad to be able to recognize them on the occasion of our golden anniversary.

Today’s 50th anniversary thank-you goes not only to Lynn and Philip and their family, but also to the generations of students of all ages who have walked through our doors. Thank you all for being such an important part of what we do.
