About the Friends

Just a couple of years from now, in 2024, the Neuberger Museum of Art is going to turn 50! But first, we have another major milestone to celebrate … the Golden Anniversary of the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art! Yes, you’re 50!

The Friends’ generous financial support and wise counsel has been central to the success of the Neuberger Museum of Art, making it one of the largest and most important academic art museums in the United States. The Friends’ legacy and impact on the museum continues to be remarkable, elevating our margins of excellence to levels that few of our peer organizations can sustain in equal measure. We are incredibly grateful to the Friends for this ongoing support.

On behalf of the museum and the Purchase College community, it is my honor to invite you to the Friends’ 50th Big Birthday Celebration on June 11th. The evening will be filled with food, fun, and friends. I curated a very special exhibition for the occasion: The Friends at 50: Selections from the Collection. This project fills our galleries with some of the amazing objects that have come into the museum’s collection through the efforts of the Friends. It is extraordinary in its breadth and scope, and demonstrates the enormous impact the Friends have had on the museum’s ability to assemble and steward a world class collection that it shares with generations of campus and community visitors.

I hope you will join us for the Big Birthday Celebration!

Tracy Fitzpatrick, Ph.D.
Director, Neuberger Museum of Art

Purchase College is embedding sustainability into all aspects of the campus by empowering students and community members to protect our shared environment. The Neuberger Museum of Art is supporting this initiative through electronic communications in lieu of a printed invitation.
