backstory: Print your heart out

In September, we opened a new show that features prints from our collection. As I rediscovered objects that I had not seen in a while and discovered new works, I knew this show needed to tell a story about the rich traditions of printmaking and the evolution of its techniques and materials.

Tomorrow at 4:30pm, I will join Purchase College Professor Emeritus of Art & Design Murray Zimiles for a public walkthrough of the Impressions: The Inventions of Printmaking exhibition. We will focus our talk on the Atelier Portfolio, a project spearheaded by Zimiles and produced by the SUNY Purchase Center for Editions back in 1987. I’m looking forward to seeing an old friend and reminiscing about the project. After the talk, one of our current Art+Design printmaking faculty members, Amanda Thackray, will lead an interactive printmaking workshop. It should be a fun afternoon. I hope you will attend.
