backstory: National tour

Romare Bearden: Abstraction, now on view at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, South Carolina, generously supported by Morgan Stanley and touring through the auspices of the American Federation of Arts, is a show near and dear to my heart. It was wonderful to see the installation at the Gibbes, train their volunteers, and participate in a panel discussion with my friend and colleague, Diedra Harris-Kelley, co-director of the Romare Bearden Foundation. What a wonderful thing to see your scholarship persist and be seen by new audiences. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.
