backstory: the beat of the drum
So… here’s what I’ve been up to this week. I got to see the Rolling Stones Monday night in Pittsburgh. First time. They were amazing, not just for their age. For any age! But here’s why I went.
Several months before Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts passed away, he blessed a replacement for himself for the upcoming tour— Neuberger friend, Steve Jordan. Steve arranges all of our music for big events and I am so lucky to have gotten to know him a little bit over the years.
Earlier in the day, before they went on, I got to visit with Steve. I asked him what it was like. He responded, and I’m paraphrasing—He had been listening to them since he was eight and now he was out there with them. Surreal. A dream come true.—For me, seeing him out there, I saw joy. All of them, really… the joy of still being together after all this time.
