backstory: fly spaces and arbors
Last time I wrote to you about my work as the Interim Managing Director of The Performing Arts Center at Purchase, I wrote about some of the similarities I was seeing between the PAC and the museum.
Well, here I’m going to make a big (although I’m sure not unexpected) confession. There are a LOT of things I don’t know about theaters. Here are a few: marley floors, fly spaces, pit lifts, counterweight systems, aprons, and arbors. All new to me. I want to say again how lucky I have been to be surrounded by devoted colleagues who help me learn every day. They are very good teachers. Thanks to them for their patience, passion, and the magic they create on stage.
