backstory: Phase 2

Today we moved into Phase 2 of our reopening plan. We’re still closed to the public, but individual Purchase College students, faculty and staff are now able to visit the galleries. I am excited to see members of the campus community in the building again.

When we entered Phase 1 of the reopening back in February, I mentioned that, as an academic museum, we serve not only the intellectual growth of our students, but also strive to be a place of welcome and refuge. It’s a special obligation that we take very seriously.

We initially opened the doors for by-appointment-only visits for classes and under strict guidelines for maintaining capacity and social distancing. Phase 2 means we’ll be open for members of the campus community three days a week with limited hours and all social distancing and capacity requirements in place.

When does the public get to come back? We’re still not quite sure yet but stay tuned for the details. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you again soon, too. Until then …

Stay safe. Be well.
