backstory: A funny memory having nothing to do with this moment in time

A long time ago, at another museum, not saying which one, I created some printed exhibition guides for a project I was working on but I didn’t want them to get “taken” out of the gallery.

We didn’t really have any way to secure the guides and I didn’t want to attach them to the benches because it makes it hard to use them while looking at artwork. So … I walked down the street to Dress Barn.

Yup, Dress Barn.

When I got there, I asked if I could have a few of those security devices that are used for clothes, you know the ones with the pin in them that snap shut and set off the alarm at the front door if you walk out with the cashier having forgotten to take them off the garment? She gave me 10. I went back to the museum and snapped those devices on the cover of the guides. Voilà. None were taken!..
