backstory: Museums helping in unexpected ways

The museum community is finding ways to help out in the crisis in ways they had not before imagined.
Yes, we’re all busy creating new and inventive online content to deliver to our audiences, folks like you. But even more importantly—we’re busy scavenging our buildings, realizing that we have gloves and masks and plastic sheeting. Nitrile gloves that we would otherwise use to handle works of art—being donated to first responders. Masks that we would otherwise use to protect ourselves when cutting lumber or spraying paint—being donated to first responders. Plastic sheeting that we would otherwise use to wrap works of art—being donated to health care workers lacking protective garments.

A new way of trying to make a difference through the arts.

Stay safe, be well.
