backstory:  “… it just might be a great idea.”

Here’s a question for you… How often have you heard someone say “I adore my board chair.”?

I haven’t heard too many people say that.  But guess what.  I adore my board chair.

Susan Dubin has served as the Chair of the Board of the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art for the last five years and, at the end of this year, she’ll be stepping down as chair.  :(

What do I love about Susan?  She is utterly devoted to the museum and to doing what is in the best interest of its work.  She speaks plainly to me, and I to her, making our working relationship lovely.  Side story:  When I decided to change up our annual benefit by renaming it BIG PARTY, I shared the idea with a few museum staff members and then went to Susan.  “BIG PARTY?” she began to respond in a puzzled and measured way… “Hmm.  You know what?  That’s such an awful idea that it just might be a great idea. Let’s try it.”  And so the new name was born.  LOVE Susan.

So… speaking of BIG PARTY, with Susan rotating off as board chair this year we are going to be honoring  both her and her husband, Jim.  Jim is a steadfast and amazing supporter of the museum, serving on the Museum’s Finance Committee and on Purchase College’s Investment Committee.  Jim’s expert guidance on critical issues for the museum makes him an extraordinary leader for the Neuberger.  We are delighted to be honoring them at our biggest event of the year.

Now, I know galas are typically boring, but ours is NOT BORING. Really! It’s a BIG PARTY with great food and fantastic music.  You can get more information here. I hope you’ll join us.

Thanks Susan!  Thanks Jim!  Our deepest gratitude.
