backstory: Neue Gallerie in NYC
Last week, I saw The Self-Portrait, From Schiele to Beckman at the Neue Galerie in New York City.
This was a really nice show. Must sees were Lyonel Feininger’s Self-Portrait, Georg Scholz’s Self-Portrait in front of an Advertising Column, and of course, Paula Modersohn-Becker’s stunning and mysterious Paula Modersohn-Becker, “Self-Portrait, Age 30, 6th Wedding Day.” On view through June 24.
And if you go to the Neue before April 23, you might try and catch Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future at the Guggenheim nearby before it closes.
