backstory: Yale Paprin

My conversation with Yale Paprin about what it means to buy works of art, not as investments but because you love them, as had Roy Neuberger.

When I went to Yale Paprin’s office to arrange the details of the generous gift he and his wife Lori were making to the Neuberger in order for us to acquire a big, gorgeous Eric Aho painting titled Approach (2012), we talked about what it means to buy works of art, not as investments but because you love them, as had Roy Neuberger.

This was the case for Yale and Lori when they purchased their own work by Aho, an artist they had met and with whom they had had the pleasure of a studio visit.  And this is certainly the case for the Neuberger as Approach comes into its collection.  You can see it on view in our Recent Acquisitions show that opens today.
