Moodle Archive server scheduled to be taken down
This only affects faculty who have had courses on the original Moodle server (Spring 2009 through Spring 2012).
Update: the Moodle Archive server is now offline. (June 1, 2018)
The Moodle Archive server is scheduled to be taken down at the end of this semester. Most if not all of us have moved on to the current Moodle production server six years ago. However, if you have any files or grades from your Moodle courses on the old server that you want to keep, now is the time to download them to your local computer.
The TLTC has help materials for downloading content from old courses at https://purchase.libguides.com/moodlebasics/moodle-archive.
Any grades you have in the gradebook for these courses can be exported to Excel spreadsheets.
You can download files from these courses as zip archives, which you will need to open on your computer.
Please be aware that many of the old course files from this era, in particular many of the scanned readings, have problems that you should not bring into your current courses.
- Many of the PDFs from these courses were not scanned in a way to be accessible to visually impaired students.
- Many were scanned at extremely large file sizes, which are problems for your students to download and for you to migrate from course to course.
If you have any questions or concerns about file resources from these old courses, please consult with your Library liaison to discuss options for remediating problematic files, or finding better versions of the materials through the library databases.
We will plan on taking the server down on May 31, 2018.
