Utilidors Rehabilitation: HTHW Phase 1

Project Overview

The High Temp Hot Water (HTHW) System at Purchase College is in poor condition in some locations and fair condition in other locations. Many components are original and have not been replaced or upgraded since originally installed. The college has been addressing ongoing leaks throughout the system and a number of previous emergency projects have revealed unreliable and potentially unsafe conditions in the system.

The system stretches from the Heating Plant located at the Facilities complex and stretches south, running parallel to Lincoln Avenue, until it reaches the Mechanical Services building, located beneath Student Services. From there it stretches out in both the north and south tunnels to supply the academic buildings.

Due to the size of this project, the project will be divided into two phases. The first phase will address the most critical areas. This will allow us to correct the portion of the system that is of greatest concern for safety and reliability.
