Cooling Towers Rehabilitation Project

Project Overview

The existing cooling towers (which are located to the east of our Physical Education building) are original and in need of replacement. The structural elements of the towers have significant corrosion and the conditions of the towers and associated pumps, has hindered our ability to deliver condenser water at the temperatures and pressures needed. This drastically reduces the efficiency and performance of the system. Periodic repairs have caused temporary shut-downs and disruption of services.

Project Scope

Since the existing cooling towers are past their useful life expectance and are not operating at full capacity, this project will address and correct these issues.

The project will be completed in two phases so as not to disrupt our ability to provide cooling during the summer months. The existing cooling towers will be replaced and new infrastructure piping will be run from our Mechanical Services building (located beneath the Student Services building) to the Cooling Towers. The upgrade will also provide the proper flow and temperature of water necessary to achieve maximum efficiency of the recently installed ice storage air conditioning system.
