PAC Exterior Elevator Rehabilitation Project
Provide protection for both the elevator and its passengers from the elements, repair existing damages, upgrade to current codes and increase energy efficiency.
Project Overview
The existing exterior elevator at the Performing Arts Center, provides pedestrian access from the street level to the upper floor and theaters of the PAC, as well as access to the campus main plaza. The elevator suffered from a number of chronic operational problems and issues, and had a history of not functioning and/or need for repairs.
The elevator lacked an exterior vestibule enclosure to protect the elevator from the weather and elements. Rain and snow consistently enters both the elevator shaft and interior cab when the doors open at the plaza level. This had lead to the elevator’s mechanical equipment breaking and rusting, the lower shaft filling with water, and the potential to damage the interior of the elevator cab as well as interior building lobby spaces.
This project was designed to provide protection for both the elevator and it’s passengers from the elements, repair existing damages, upgrade the elevator to current codes and increase energy efficiency, and restore a properly working elevator back to the campus.
