Health and Wellness
We ask a lot of you at Purchase. We ask you to be conscientious and questioning, to be open to new ideas, and to be a willing participant in our community. To do this, you need to feel your very best: mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Did you know Purchase will be a completely tobacco-free campus in 2018? Did you know you can take a yoga class for free any day of the week? Did you know Purchase was among one of the first college campuses to offer an exclusively vegetarian dining venue? Want to find out more about our commitment to your well-being? Explore Wellness@Purchase.
We provide free, voluntary, and confidential mental healthcare services. We offer emergency response, individual and group counseling, outreach, consultation for all current students.
When visiting the Counseling Center for the first time, please bring your More Card, it will help streamline the registration process.
It’s tough being sick no matter where you are, but it always feels worse when you’re away from home. Our team of professional medical practitioners are on-site, ready to provide primary care, diagnoses, treatment, and education to all matriculated students.
Health Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm.
It’s easy to be a couch potato, but not at Purchase, with so many options to stay active. Visit the fitness center, swim in our olympic-size pool, join an intramural team, take a recreational class (like rock climbing, or Capoeira, or Latin Dance, or Fencing and Stage Combat classes).
If you or someone you know is experiencing an emergency (e.g., appears to be a threat to themselves or others) after hours, please contact our New York State University Police at 914-251-6911.
Purchase supports a holistic approach to education and health. The Wellness Center staff believes in fostering the development of the whole person—intellectually, artistically, professionally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Wellness@Purchase offers programs and services covering healthy interpersonal relationships; individual and group counseling for addiction, nutrition, and stress management; workshops on mindfulness and meditation; yoga classes, and more.
