Sophia Castro Astor ’25
Sophia Castro Astor ’25 (Journalism) is a production assistant at Embassy Row, a division of Sony Pictures Television.
Embassy Row develops, produces, and distributes a wide variety of entertainment programs, including talk shows (Get Real, Prime Video Sports Talk), game shows (Who Wants to be A Millionaire), food competition series (Beat Bobby Flay) and educational TV (Reading Rainbow).
Castro Astor was a regular contributor to the student publication, The Beat, before taking over as Editor-in-Chief. She spearheaded a redesign, shaping its photographic layout, interviews, reviews, profiles, and overall appearance, making it look, she says, “a little more Purchase-y.” The experience, she adds, taught her “how to write better, edit better, and learn about leadership.”

A student speaker featured at the School of Humanities symposium, Castro Astor presented an episode of the talk show she co-produced and directed, Purchase Presents.
