Brigede Baca Aucca is an English and Global Literatures and Psychology double major and Literature minor. She will be presenting her senior project, “The Line between Fiction and Reality: Understanding Dark Romance.” This research paper traces dark romance’s roots in Gothic and classic romance traditions while analyzing three contemporary novels – The Sinner, by Shantel Tessier, God of Malice, by Rina Kent, and Haunting Adeline, by H.D. Carlton to explore how obsession, morally ambiguous characters, manipulation, and possessiveness shape the genre.
