Kelly Hoffman, Ph.D.

Racial disparities in health and healthcare are pervasive in the U.S., particularly in pain management, where Black Americans are systematically undertreated for pain compared to White Americans. In this talk, Dr. Hoffman will provide an overview of research that sheds light on the social psychological factors that contribute to this bias. Notably, she finds evidence of this bias among individuals with medical training, which may contribute to racial disparities in pain assessment and treatment.
