Joanna Perez-Calderon

Joanna Perez-Calderon is an Art History Major. She will be presenting her senior project, “From Both Sides of the Easel: Women as Both Artists and Models in the 19th Century.” Her project examines the lives and works of women who were both artists and models in the 19th century. By exploring their dual roles within the context of exclusion from formal art academies and the challenges of being both a subject and a creator, her project looks to shed light on how these women navigated their roles in a male-dominated art world and contributed to the evolving perception of women in the art industry.
