John is a History Major. He will be presenting his senior project, “A History of the New York, Westchester & Boston Railway.” The Westchester (1912-1937) was a high-speed electric railroad, built to the highest engineering standards, designed to serve commuters in Westchester and NYC. Owned by the New Haven railroad and backed by JP Morgan, it incurred a huge building cost of $2 million per mile and was shrouded in mysterious financial dealings that would help to bring its parent company to financial ruin.
