Manuela Mares

Manuela Mares is a double major in Anthropology and Visual Arts (BS). She will be presenting her oral histories project alongside colleague Marihana Heloany titled, “From Brazil to Port Chester: Oral Histories of Brazilian Women Navigating Immigration, Work, and Faith.” Part of the VOCES: Oral Histories and Spanish for Heritage Speakers initiative, their project documents the lives of three Brazilian women in Port Chester, capturing their migration journeys, ties to Pentecostal church communities, and experiences navigating work in the service sector and identity in the U.S.
