Hidaya Ibrahim

Hidaya Ibrahim holds a bachelor’s degree in film directing from Institut Supérieure des Métiers de l’Audivisuel (ISMA) in Cotonou, Benin.

Having spent 5 years in New York City, she is fluent in English. On her days off from acting, she works as a translator and interpreter and has been doing so for the past 6 years.

As a translator/interpreter, Ibrahim worked with various profiles including Purchase College students for the international cultural exchange program, documentary crew from the Netherlands, educators from New York for the Fulbright-Hays program in 2023 and individuals like the set designer of the movie The Woman King.

As an actress, Ibrahim has worked on various movies, short and feature length. She has also produced a several films, in some of which she has starred. She is now expanding her career to Nigeria, where she has already appeared in two films. One is called Mami Wata, which had is US premiere at the Sundance Festival and was selected as Nigeria’s nominee for the 2024 Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category.

As of 2023, Ibrahim spent a month and a half in Nigeria where she shot a series for Netflix. During this experience, she learned more about directing. She is now writing her third feature length film and planning on her directing debut with a short film.

In the future, Ibrahim hopes to work on a pan Africanism project and extend her knowledge in the diaspora.
