Jordan Billups ’18

Jordan Billups ’18 was interested in the intersection of computer science and biology.

During his time here, Billups participated in the Rosetta Commons REU at Northeastern University. As part of the internship, he added features to a puzzle-based human computation game that leverages human problem-solving skills to predict protein structures and even design new proteins.

In particular, his research focused on encouraging players to explore a broader range of possible puzzle solutions and, hopefully, generate more diverse structure predictions.

He presented a poster with his research results at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in November 2017, which earned him the ABRCMS Outstanding Poster Presentation Award.

He continued the work for his senior project, for which he earned the Purchase College Senior Excellence Research Award.

Billups is a computer programmer currently serving as an Informatics Analyst at Accenture, a global professional services company with leading capabilities in digital, cloud, and security.
